Got the Urge to get a new toy. I can get a great deal on a new Tikkia T3 Lite, 22.5 inch fluted barrel. Any success or horror Stories?? Plus how is Brass availability?

It's great at burning up barrels

The 260 Remington is an excellent round. Accurate and easy recoiling. The tikka’s are typically very accurate rifles. I’d say that would be one hell of a set up, whitetail to elk, you would have it covered.

IMO the 260Rem is not an overbore case. The 243Win is closer yet, with more velocity and is not considered a bbl burner.
The 260 is usually used/loaded with heavy for bore sized bullets needing less powder and throat temps are kept somewhat lower. Consider that the 243 can be loaded with 55 and 58gr bullets to well over 4000fps. There is not a bullet made in .264" that can be loaded anywhere near that.
I agree . . . the 260 and the 7-08 are great chamberings, capeable of killing some med to large sized game. --- SAWMAN
There are a lot more barrel burners than the .260. I don't have a .260 yet, but want one and Tikka is a good choice. It is a great caliber, better than the cm marketing scam.
A RPR chambered in 260Rem with a 26" bbl and 1:8 twist would get me excited. (OR a 7mm-08 with same twist and bbl length)
THEN . . . iffen I got bored with that I could easily turn it into a 260AI (OR 7-08AI ) --- SAWMAN
It’s a good one to get into long slippery bullets and avoid all the CM fan boi bullshit. Wes often has brass and bullets. Custom barrels like a Bartlein are going 2500-3000 rounds before dropping off.

Get it. They are awesome shooters. Wes has some first rate 260 brass from GWT. I would jump on it. I have a 260ai that I love. It will spin up the 140 rdfs to 3055. I always like to put new shooters behind my rifle and have them shoot coke cans at 500 yards. Every single person has tried to buy my rifle. Inherently accurate, light recoiling, and very predictable. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6cb2ad7845.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1c80a3b95d.jpg

>3055 with a 140 ='s an Ackley shittin' on a Creedmoor. I LOVE IT!!
Would love to have that chambering in a 1:8 . . 26" . . bolt gun. --- SAWMAN
That's what I'm running on an old rem 700 donor action. I started wanting the straight 260 and at the last minute said ah hell let's do the 260AI. Im very happy with it. I do get a lot of flack from the creedmoor guys at the range. But hell I would be mad too if I found out all the $7 run and gun magazines I've been reading had been lying to me for profit.

Saw a published comparison between the 260Rem and 300Win Mag. Stated that the 260 shoots as flat as the 300 "out past" 800yds.
Did not mention which bullet at what speed though. --- SAWMAN
I cant confirm at this time but I have both calibers and an opportunity to shoot past 1000 yards this spring. So theres a good possibility of running them head to head. I can say that when you see Frank Galil from snipers hide putting hits on target at well over a mile with a 260 rem and factory ammo it really shows the potential.

I got on board the 6.5 train back around 2007. I have THREE 1896, 6.5mm X 55mm Swedish mausers.
My baby though is my Ruger #1(6.5mm X 06) with a Lilja 32" SS, 8" twist, recessed crowned heavyweight barrel.
Got a sweetheart of a deal on a NightForce 30mm diameter, NSX 8 X 32 X 56mm scope with an illuminated reticle.
IMHO the .264/6.5mm caliber is so close to perfect. Bullet weights run from 85 grs to 160+grs.
All the hullabaloo about the Creedmoore had me laughing because the .260 Remington had been delivering great performance and more before Mr. Creedmore came around, lol.
MR. DENNIS OLSEN at Plains, Montana did ALL the customizing, FLAWLESS work!!!
I had him add a barrel band since the sling mount on the forearm would not balance it.
Will be glad when I can get my health back so I can put it through it's paces!
The other 2 rifles are Rugers', both .22-250, a #1 and a M-77.
If I had money to burn, the #1 .22-250 would have a 28" barrel.
THESE RIFLES ARE NOT FOR SALE.

Very nice. Yep, lots of good 6.5s out there that aren’t marketing scams. If a cm fanboy gets lippy I just ask him what War the cm helped win.....none? Then it ain’t cr@p compared to the Swede, sit down and stfu!
