Where are you? Do you call them? Sell hides?
It’s fun no doubt. I haven’t been able to go as much as I liked to.

I have a pack of 4 to 7 by me. I haven't heard them in several months. When they have been active I have gone out and tried to call. I got some replies but nothing ever showed itself. I used a rabbit wobbling thing but no interest.
Ranchers where I do prairie dogs say the best commercial calls aren't working, but winter trappers are taking 50-60 a year.
I've had great success with Circe calls except in summer.
Had a good mentor too.

I shot one on my property this year. The coyote saw the motorized flipping tail I had and couldn’t stay away. He must have watched me set it up. I just got to my spot and he was on it before I picked up my rifle. The caller wasn’t a factor at all. I have had them return howls, but could t draw them in. My 40 acres of forest is too thick this time of year. I have to wait for late fall winter to see more than 50 feet.
All this talk about prairie dogs has me itching to go west and find some. I bet it’d be a blast. We get into some yotes here in Michigan.

I average 1300 rds fired/week at these "explosive" critters during May, June and July - long days. A bit less in April and October.
Prairie days with no wind are rare - lots of doping practise.
Some stuff I've learned:
-The 50Z-Max at 3200'/s mv can explode a PD so hard his parts will take out 2 more dogs close by.
-If you can drop the group's center dog into the hole and plug it you can usually pick off the rest who can't get down the hole.
-If you're walking them up, keep your head on a swivel - they pop up for a look after you pass.
-Rattlers tend to den up in late Oct. Always a concern.
