I shoot a 240 gr LSWC in my 44 specials. I have 3 1 S&W MOD 24 and 2 Colt SAA. I do load a 200 gr LFP in my 44 Russians. You can shoot those out of your 44 special as well. Powder puffs.Quote:

Yep. Heavier bullets = Less powder = less speed = less recoil.

Has to do with friction in the barrel and accelerating the heavier bullets which causes pressure spikes.
Wes, as good as you’ve been to me during my time knowing you, I am reluctant to disagree with you... So I won’t. Lol.
But Skeeter Skelton did. The world famous Skeeter’s Load was 7.5 gr Unique under a 240-250 gr SWC for (depending on a lot of variables) around 950fps. That’s potent enough to take anything a North American might face short of the brown bears.
I use 240gr for my 44 specials.

The Special does have a rubber Hogue grip while the .357 mag Match Champion has a wood grip.
I put the Ruger factory compact grip on the one I had, our parting had nothing to do with the gun and everything to do with bad timing. Lol.
The compact grip was originally on the 3 inch, fixed sight, 357 mag so I took a shot at it. Worked great. Between that and a Simply Rugged pancake holster I carried that gun everywhere and either no one noticed or no one commented.
Thanks to all who helped me get going. These were done old school with a lee loader kit. 240gr over 4.2 gr of trailboss.

Thanks. I was originally going to go for the stainless 3" but after I seen the 5" blued I had to get it. I havent shot trailboss yet but I did shoot some w231 starting loads that were very dirty.
