I was just curious what the difference is between the hollow point xtreme and round nose other than the obvious. I know the HP’s aren’t designed for carry ammo or anything I was just curious. Difference in performance? Personal preference?

They tend to shoot more accurately. Different weight distribution and more bearing surface to engage the rifling, for the same bullet weight :)
Lol.... Too funny guys :)
I a going to try those in the Kimber soon. Damn thing is the only gun I have that does not love the 200 grain flat nose
I use a lot of Xtreme 9MM 115, 124 and 147 and For the past couple of years, I've only been buying HP. I've always bought from Xtreme, until my buddy turned me into Sage. Cheaper and way faster service.
Short of primer and powder, I only buy my reloading supplies from Wes. Fastest and cheapest seller in CONUS.
Which reminds me, i need to buy stock in the tape industry.

Remember, many ranges will not allow you to shoot HP except for .22. This is due to the methods of bullet stops, some are fine but some are made with chipped rubber behind a rubber plate and HPs eats them up very quickly.
Thanks for the clarification.

Why make a HP that doesn’t expand?? Not being a wise ass, just trying to learn more about pistol ammo.

It is to make them more accurate. It disperses the weight differently, and the HP fills with air in flight and makes its own "Bubble" of disturbed air to travel in. Normslly HP bullets are longer and have more bearing surface in the barrel as well, which helps with stability
Wes Sage dropping knowledge bombs! This is why I love and support the forum!
How can you tell which HP’s are designed to expand, and which ones aren’t? I’m about to load some Hornady 165gr XTP that we’re given to me. But after those I plan on ordering some Extreme HP’s from Wes. I’m ASSUMING that the Hornady are designed to expand...

Ok, so when loading these Xtreme hollow points, do you use hollow point data and COAL?
I would assume yes, but just want to be sure.

Another "from experience" I have found the 124gr HP's to shoot more accurately in 3 different guns, 2 Shields and a Glock 19 than the 124 RN's. Marginally, but better across the board.
Thank you

Aside from the accuracy gains. They also supposedly have a heavier plating, so that they can be pushed to higher velocities, if that’s an issue for you. Plus they make much cleaner holes in paper than a standard round nose.
The last reason is the main reason I buy them as opposed to standard RN ;)
I like them because they look more badass than RN 😎
Seriously though, I can load them exactly like 124gr Gold Dots and they perform the same. Great for practice.
