Looks like I’ll start reloaded for 45-70 next. I have a few boxes of bullets from my grandpa. I think they are 405gr. Going to start researching recipes. Excited to try this out.

It is a great one to reload for!! 405 are a great bullet, they just kick like a mule :)
We have brass, and other bullet options as well on the website.

Thanks Wes, I need to see what supplies I currently have. I promise that I am constantly checking your site for supplies
Be careful they can be addicting. I got my first one about 20 years back because someone gave me 200 rounds f ammo from an estate so I bought rifle since I had ammo a now I have 5.
So anyone got some good loads for 45-70? I know there are diffrent projectile sizes and powders, but just your go to, all around favories.
Reload for a 45-70 Marlin and CVA single shot. Cast 300 lead powder coated and 300 grain hollow point. use 3031 and H4895 with both and great results. Load mid range charges.
I get best results with 3031 pushing 405 Flat Points either jacketed or hard cast.
I load for 6 different 45/70. marlin 1885g, H&R 1871 buffalo classic, t/c contender 14”, a converted British lee enfield, and 2 different Siamese mausers. I load a different bullet for each so I can tell them apart by sight, since they are loaded to all different power levels. Imr4198 has been my go to for most of the mid to higher end loads, and AA5744 has been great out of the Buffalo classic with 500gr cast bullets.

I prefer 4198 to push the 405gr bullets. Consistently accurate.
Hey guys, just looking for opinions here.
Didn't know that I already had 250 Starline 45-70 cases in addition to the 150 Starline cases I got from Wes! So now I have another 400 rounds to load up with Oregon Trail Lasercast 350gr and 405gr bullets to be unloaded with my Cabela's special, a Perdersoli Winchester 1886/71.
What would be the top choices for powder? I have already loaded up a bunch of rounds using RL-7 and AA 2015 using CCI LR primers.
Thank you all for your help!
