What’s your preferred bullet and weight for .30cal deer loads? I’m working up some loads for my .308 and .30-06 and would like some insight into what you’ve actually used with success. Feel free to post load data as well. Thanks!

150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. Have us others with good results as well but 150 grain bullet from 30.06 has cleanly taken deer for me from Michigan to Florida.
.308 Spitzer BT Nosler Ballistic tip 165 gr . Wes has them. They run great in my 30/06 and .308

165 grain Nosler Accubond has been my go to in .30-06.
I experiment a lot but in the .308 Win and the 30.06 Spr, I always come back to a 150 grain Sierra Pro Hunter.
I’m in with both 150 SST’s & 150 Nosler BT’s in my .06. Shoot well and work.

In .308 win and 30-06 I’ve used a bunch of bullets, but was always partial to the 165gr Hornady spire point. In 300savage I use either 150gr Sierra spritzer or 150gr hornady spire point.
Just loaded up these beauties. SST’s with some brass courtesy of Sage’s. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3e42372521.jpg

165 Nosler Accubonds or 168 Nosler Accubond LR
In .308 I used Federal Premium with 150gr NBT for years until I couldn't find factory ammo anymore. I changed over to Hornady Factory Load 150gr SST since. I just started reloading but I can tell you the 150s either NBT or SST are great. All animals I have taken with both dropped in their tracks.
I used 180gr SSTs out of my 3006 and they are devastating. I’m considering going to a lower weight bullet because of the amount of damage it caused with out hitting bone. But with a behind it the shoulder double lung hit not a lot or meat is lost anyway.

This is my hunting load. It has already taken a nice 9-point buck last fall. Shoots very well to long distances too.

Took him at 144 yards. Couldn’t have asked for a better performance from me, the rifle, the load, or the bullet. I’m sold on TMKs

Nice buck. Both of these gentlemen chose to participate in ballistics research last fall. Both were taken with 165 grain Nosler Accubonds over 51 grains of H335 in a .30-06. Both were dead right there.

I run the 180gr SST's through my 300wsm and they are devastating rounds!
150 or 165 gr 30 Cal Hornady interlock or Sierra game Kings.

I've used the 150 gr Sierra GK in my 308 for over 20 yrs now and have never been let down. I assume the pro hunters would be just as good. I use 165gr Rem Corelock in the '06 with great results.

Use to get them at Midway in bulk in 150 and 165. Still have a lot left.

Interesting. So far the best factory load I’ve found for my Savage has been Remington corelokts. I believe 150gr. Grouped 1.5” at 200yds no problem. My goal now is to work something up with the 150 interlock or ballistic tips cuz I have a few hundred on hand. Still deciding which caliber to take this year.
I’ve been thinking about trying Sierra’s. Maybe I’ll pick some up and give them a shot.

I've been using 180 Barnes tsx in my 30-378, 165grain hornady sp in one of my 300 wby, 150 gr v-max in another and been using the same bullet in my 300 savage. I change bullets a lot and had great luck with the game kings in all weights
I have loaded for 308 110 thru 180 gr bullets the 110 had explosive results on woodchucks and fun to shoot The area where I hunt deer is dense woods so the longest shot is 75 max. I Like the game kings in 150 or sst in 150. 110 gr. varmageddon nice for chucks and other varmints.
looks like a good church choir
I use to use 168 gr nosler partition for my 06. I've moved to a 308 now but I'd imagine the same bullet will shoot well in it to. Gotta dial my loads in first. So far it's loving the nosler 168 gr custom competition bthp. Alot of my hunting (when I was able to go) is in the woods so I don't have a long shot so there I use my 45 marlin cowboy or 45 Ruger blackhawk.
