Consider a Sierra game king. I have used them in several .30-06s . 200 grain for elk, 165 or 150 for deer. Whitetail will go after a boiler room shot. 50 to 100 yards is not uncommon. I shot a whitetail doe that made 5 - 20 ft+ leaps and went about 80 yards. Heart shredded, both longs deflated. Mule deer don’t usually do that.

Agree. Mule deer often, but not always, drop on the spot. Big and strong as they can be, they usually drop pretty quickly. Whitetail? Even well-hit, they can run and run...

I've also had white tails drop in their tracks, but with the 180 partition, it is usually from a neck shot or breaking a leg.
Looks like I may need a sampler pack from Wes!
