40gn & .50gn .224 usage

Just picked up 900 pills of 40gn .224 VMax. Now Wes has 40 & 50 grain ZMax .224 on sale. I've only used these particular grain pills for/in the 5.7x28mm for use my PS90.
I am curious; (I see in my loading manual that I can load both of those lighter rounds for my AR) is this an effective round for more than just varmint or poking holes in targets?

The 50gr are really awesome in 223!!
Not sure what "Other" purpose they could have than paper and Varmints. What were you thinking? Bigger game?
