Deformed case head lip
Complete newb here so please forgive me if this is a dumb question. I had a situation where some carbon or debris was on my bolt face, not allowing the cartridge case head to sit flat on the bolt. As a result the extractor bent the lip of the cases slightly, producing a small 0.002" bump on each one. My question is, will this cause any issue if I reload and shoot them? I figure they'll flatten out again when fired but I don't want to risk any damage due to my inexperience. TIA

If it is only 0.002” it is unlikely it will cause any issues as long as the reloaded round will chamber properly. You could test them by running a couple of cases thru the sizing die only, and see if they will chamber and eject.
My question to you is are you sure of what cased the cases to bend in the first place? If they were reloads this “could” be an indication of an over pressure load.

Thanks Eddy. I'm 99% sure that was the problem. I was able to recreate it reliably with undamaged cases before I noticed a small buildup under the extractor on the bolt face. Once I cleaned it the problem went away. These were once fired factory rounds out of an AR platform 6.5 Grendel. I know ARs are rough on brass but I never saw this before. I just started reloading though so it could be I just never looked.

Fired these yesterday. They're flat now. :D
