Building a 20 practical???

So I am a moron when it comes to this but I have been searching on google and YouTube and I don’t quite get it. I am wanting to build a 20 practical and you can’t actually buy dies for it without them being custom made so far as I can find. So I am understanding that I need a Redding type s 223 rem die and a 225 bushing? If I understand this correctly that is the outside neck diameter (225)? This and of course a 204 expander ball. This is probably super simple and I am over complicating it. But I have never used Redding only rcbs and I have never seen a die where you can replace the bushing. So I can find the die just fine but where do I get the expander ball and bushing? Is this setup going to be like $100 or so or even more? Will I need a different die to seat the bullet everyone seems to use the same but most kind of skip over this detail.

Should I just build a 204 ruger and pay more for brass? Lol.

Hell yeah. I have seen 204Ruger brass pretty cheap. Google is your friend. Check with Wes.

No there is plenty out there that wasn’t the concern. The 20 practical gets nearly the same velocity uses less powder and of course uses 223 brass at worst the brass is like 1/5th the price and will always be everywhere.

It's an awesome round. Check out white oak they are huge fans and make some great barrels.

The way I form them and it's really inexpensive to get set up is to buy a 4 die Lee .223 set.

Then buy the mandrel for a .204 full length resizer and/or the collet neck resizer. You can also buy the collet for the .204 factory crimp die too. The lee seating stem for .223 will work but I bought the .204 stem as well. Boom for like $60 you are good to go with a complete set up.

I called Lee and got the neck collet for the fcd and seating plug from them....the .223 will actually work just fine but I figured I'd gone far enough might as well just go all the way.

With 32 grain bullets it's just a hundred fps or so slower than a .204.

If you don't have cheap .223 brass starline sells .223 brass that doesn't have a shoulder formed. My friends have had better luck accuracy wise with them than using LC and converting them. I just anneal the .223 brass and start the process. I'll then reanneal and neck only size after formed and I've had great results.
