178gr ELD-X and 300 WSM
Hey guys,
I just purchased some 300 WSM brass and some 178GR ELD-X bullets from Wes and am having trouble finding any load data for it. I have a 9th edition Hornady reloading manual but the bullet isnt in here. It is also not an option on Hodgdon's site. There is a 178gr A-Max and bthp, but I know the ELD's are a bit of a different animal.
I'm not bound to 1 powder, but I do have 4350 and R17 on hand.
Anyone messed with this combo!?

You can use 178gr Load data for the A-Max with no issue.
Load development from middle of the read and you'll be fine
Not much difference in bullets in the same weight class, if they are all lead core, jacketed.
Only time you can have issues is with Full Copper bullets which are longer and have more friction and pressure

I assume you are the same one from Facebook but yeah load data in my Hornady 10 is identical to the Amax. Same OAL and powder.

Using load data from the 175's and 180's is another option.
With a generous dose of diligence and caution of course. Plus what WES sez in his above. --- SAWMAN

I know this is apples and pears but I'm using those with 300 win mag and they are incredibly accurate and using 4350 powder. I would like to hear a bit more on how they take down animals as I'm a bit concerned that they will fragment quite a bit and remind me of a large SST in ELD clothing. But, the one person I know of dropped his elk at 80yds like a rock.
