Small game hunting
Okay so here is my question or debate. Small game is fun to hunt and eat. As of right now I'm using a 17 hmr, or 22 lr. Now I know it wouldn't really be cost effective to buy a gun to reload for, I get that. However if I wanted to buy a gun to reload to hunt squirrel, rabbits, crow, or groundhogs. What would be a great round to consider? The two that come to mind for me are 17 hornet and 22 tcm. Thanks for any and all input.

Hard to beat 22 TCM or .223

But if you shoot a squirrel or rabbit with a .223, you’re not going to eat much of it.

That's my thinking as well. That's why I would like to keep the round as little as can be I guess haha

Well, that’s why I suggested 22hornet.... great round, reloadable, still 32, 35, 40 grain like your 17, 22lr, and 22mag....

I like .223 for groundhog

22 hornet would be a fantastic round. Have you loaded for one before.

I’m a huge fan of the 22 Hornet.

Yes, I have reloaded my fair share of them. It’s a great “rookie” round IMHO.
