.45-70 and reloader 7
Hey guys. Wanted to load some 405 grain hard cast up for the .45-70. I also want to use reloder 7 as I have a ton of it. I emailed cast performance and they had no data for them with reloder 7. I want to be around 1600 FPS. Anyone got a start point for a work up? Thanks.

Will it hurt to use jacketed bullet data? Thanks

You should be fine if you don't go to a full charge. But here's a load for the 1873 Springfield that has Rx7. This is from the Lyman cast handbook 4th editionhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5b4ebe2b83.jpg

Good gun. It doesn't show Rx7 for that rifle in my book but you can use the data for the jacketed bullet or if it reaches the velocity you want you can use the Springfield data

Thanks. I think I’ll start at 40 even grains and see what the chrono says. Thank you.
