Download the Tapatalk App, and things will be WAY Easier.
If using your phone, are you seeing the full page, or the Mobile version of the page?
I will do my best to help out. or have a Mod post a few pics of how to do it.

Have you tried tapping the user's profile name then there should be a new screen to message and follow click message.
